Mary Alice Hicks, age 87 of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at her residence. She was born November 11, 1937 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Henry & Bertha Hale Hicks.
She was the wife of the late Arthur Shepherd. She was a member of Auxier Freewill Baptist Church and former secretary for the Floyd County Sheriff's Office.
She is survived by her Daughters: Pamela Jean (John K) Blackburn of Prestonsburg, Kentucky & Debra Lynn (Arthur) Ritchie of Ligonier, Indiana; Grandchildren: Maryann Hall, Jason Ritchie, Larry Ritchie & Anita Wass; Step Grandchild: Kevin Blackburn; 9 Great Grandchildren; Brother & Sisters: Lewis (Mary) Hicks of Clay City, Kentucky, Emmalene (Jerry) Ackerman of Winchester, Kentucky, Ruby (Larry) Slone of Prestonsburg, Kentucky & Peggy Newsome of Blue River, Kentucky. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her step grandchildren: Jeffery Blackburn & Michelle Whitley; Brothers & Sister: Joe Ed Hicks, Sam Henry Hicks & Gloria "Denie" Sword. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Visitation will begin Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 6pm at the funeral home
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 1pm at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky with Bobby Joe Spencer officiating
Burial will follow at Mayo Cemetery, Prestonsburg, Kentucky
