Georgia Pearl Stamper Gabbard

Georgia Pearl Stamper Gabbard, widow of Decoursey Gabbard and daughter of the late George and Jestine Brewer Stamper was born in Lee County, Kentucky December 8, 1929 and departed this life in Beattyville, Kentucky on July 27, 2025 at the age of 95 years, 7 months, and 19 days. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Canyon Falls Evangelical Congregational Church and a homemaker. She was affectionately known as Mommy, Georgie, Georgie Pearl, and Mamaw to many, even beyond her own family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, hospitality, and unwavering faith. Georgie had a heart big enough to feed the entire world- whipping up full meals in the blink of an eye for anyone who walked through her door. No one left her home hungry and no soul was ever left untouched by her warmth. She was a gifted quilter. Her quilts, each one stitched with care and prayer, were treasured gifts across so many generations. Georgie’s love for the Lord was evident in every note she sang of her favorite hymns. She loved singing with her dear friend, Buddy Johnson, whether it be at church or on WLJC. She found great joy worshipping her Lord and spent many quiet hours reading her Bible, drawing strength and peace from its pages. Though her hands now rest and her sweet voice is silent here on Earth, her memory will be held in the hearts of all that knew and loved her. Whether you called her Georgia, Georgie, Georgie Pearl, Mommy, or Mamaw, loving her came naturally, but being loved by her was a blessing. Georgie leaves behind two sons, Freddie Gabbard and wife Bonnie and Earl Gabbard and wife Theresa all of Beattyville; five granddaughters, Bethany Gabbard and husband Rodney also of Beattyville, Alyssa Lucas and husband Larry of Louisville, Kentucky, Susan Kincaid and husband Frank, Tarasita Williams and husband Derrick all of Beattyville, and Candice Tye and husband Dustan of Corbin, Kentucky; ten great grandchildren, Julia Head, Peyton Gabbard, Garrett and Gavin Lucas, Trace and Kolton “Koko” Kincaid, Gianna “Gia” Lucas, Kindal Williams, Kennedy Tye, and Ryder Williams; one great-great granddaughter, Kora Belle Lucas; brother-in-law, Albert Bradley; sister-in-law, Alene Stamper; special friends Betty Spencer, Suzy Booth, and Tammy Angel and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and so many friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Georgie was preceded in death by her seven siblings.
